According to recent data from the federal government, the number of animals at risk in the state has increased significantly. Many of these animals were found in areas devastated by floods, without access to food, clean water or adequate shelter. Volunteers at SOS Rio Grande do Sul report that rescued dogs and cats often show signs of malnutrition, illness and physical trauma.

The main causes that lead to the abandonment and mistreatment of animals in Rio Grande do Sul are related to economic and social factors. The initial lack of resources, such as infrastructure and personnel, were combined with the absence of public policies to control the population of stray animals, which further aggravated the problem. The SOS Rio Grande do Sul articulation has worked tirelessly to mitigate these challenges, offering support and assistance to both the animals and the affected communities.

The impact of the floods is devastating not only for humans but also for animals. Many pets are separated from their families during storms and end up wandering the streets. SOS Rio Grande do Sul organizes rescue operations to locate and save these animals, providing them with urgent medical care and temporary shelter until they can be adopted.

The importance of animal rescue cannot be underestimated. In addition to saving lives, these actions raise awareness about animal rights and the need for responsible adoption. SOS Rio Grande do Sul not only rescues but also educates the public on the importance of caring for and protecting pets.

Despite the challenges, there are stories of hope. Every successful rescue is a victory for SOS Rio Grande do Sul and a new beginning for the rescued animals. The organization relies on donations and community support to continue its essential work. Everyone's participation is crucial to transform the lives of these animals and build a safer and more dignified future for them.

The Importance of Donations to SOS Rio Grande do Sul

To continue saving lives, community support is essential. Donations are crucial to cover the costs of transportation, food, and medical care for the rescued animals. In addition to financial contributions, pet products such as food, collars, medications, and toys are welcome.

Complete Check-Up

Before being handed over to new families, the animals went through a series of medical care.

"Thanks to the work of volunteers in Rio Grande do Sul, these dogs arrived here already vaccinated, treated for fleas and ticks, and tested for diseases such as leishmaniasis, distemper, and parvovirus," explains Carolina Ferrari, a volunteer veterinarian. "Here, we conduct physical evaluations to detect dermatitis, otitis, and pneumonia, because many were exposed to water for a long time."

The collaborative efforts of volunteers and adopters not only provide a new chance of life for these animals but also promote a network of solidarity and compassion. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these animals in need.

Be a hero for these animals. Consider adopting, donating, or contributing with pet products. Every act of help is a step towards building a better future for the animals rescued from the floods in Rio Grande do Sul.

ATTENTION: We recommend that you make your donations using official PIX, deliver donations directly to the Correios agencies, where you can donate food, pet medications, collars, toys, and clothes along with your donations for people.

NOTE: Most of the photos are of dogs. During our research, we tried to diversify, but in this difficult time for SOS Rio Grande do Sul, many animals were killed, especially in rural areas. The records of live animals are mostly urban, primarily dogs and cats.
